British Sailor Found Dead with Head Injuries, Floating off Greek Island
A tragic incident has unfolded on the serene island of Spetses in Greece, where a British man in his forties was found floating in the sea with head injuries.
The man, reportedly participating in an annual yachting regatta near the small island, was found lifeless in the port area on Friday.
According to reports from The Sun and Sky News, authorities noted injuries on the left side of his head. Despite efforts to rush him to a local hospital, the man was pronounced dead upon arrival. An autopsy is scheduled to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Greek media highlighted that the sailor was part of a team competing in a classic yacht regatta, a prominent event that draws numerous yachts annually between June 26 and 29. Spetses, known for its historical charm and low population of 3,748 residents, has recently gained attention as a filming location for major productions like Maggie Gyllenhaal’s drama “The Lost Daughter” and the mystery-comedy “Glass Onion.”
This tragic incident follows closely after another recent death on a Greek island, where TV doctor Michael Mosley passed away on Symi after collapsing during a walk. The 67-year-old was found in a rocky area near a beach, marking another sad event in the region.
As investigations continue into both cases, the communities on these idyllic Greek islands mourn the losses and await further details surrounding these unfortunate events.
