A British tourist has tragically died in Greece after reportedly losing consciousness during a diving excursion in Vougliameni, located south of Athens.

The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, fell unconscious in the sea while diving with instructors from a private company. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon.

According to the Coast Guard, emergency services were called to the scene and rushed the man to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Two individuals, a 46-year-old diving instructor and his 37-year-old assistant, have been arrested in connection with the death. An autopsy has been scheduled at the Forensic and Toxicology Laboratory of the School of Medicine in Greece.

The local Port Authority has seized the diving equipment used by the company involved and has launched a preliminary investigation into the incident. The Attica coast, known for its crystal-clear waters, is a popular destination for divers due to its historic shipwrecks and underwater relics.

Despite the region’s reputation for excellent underwater visibility and a water temperature exceeding 20°C from May to November, the cause of the tourist’s sudden loss of consciousness remains under investigation.
