A Ryanair flight was forced to make an emergency landing at London Stansted Airport on Sunday evening after a passenger tragically died mid-flight.
The flight en route from Tirana, Albania, to Manchester Airport was diverted to the UK capital after the man suffered a medical emergency.
Paramedics, police, and an air ambulance were waiting for the plane upon its arrival, but despite efforts to save the man, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been revealed.
Witnesses on board described the chaotic scene as the passenger began having convulsions. One onlooker recalled that the man was moved to the aisle, and several passengers with first aid training immediately stepped in to assist. “He stopped breathing, and everything went into chaos,” the witness said. “A few of us with first aid training jumped in to help and started CPR while the defibrillator was set.”
Ryanair has yet to comment on the incident.
