Rising Rapper Enchanting Dies at 26, Confirms Gucci Mane
Up-and-coming rapper Enchanting has died at the age of 26, after reportedly being on life support.
Her former mentor and fellow rapper, Gucci Mane, confirmed her passing.
Gucci Mane, 44, paid tribute to the young artist, whose real name was Channing Nicole Larry, in a heartfelt social media post on Tuesday.
“So sad to have to say R.I.P to such a great young lady a true star we gone all miss you Chant @luvenchanting,” the 1017 Records founder wrote, sharing a photo of her on Instagram.
The rising star died after her family decided to take her off life support, following her falling unconscious the day before. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
A representative from her management team told The Shade Room that the rapper had been suffering from withdrawals and had overdosed. “She came to my house the last four days to get clean. She tried her best and I did everything I could to help her, she tried,” they said.
According to her 1017 Records profile, which remains active on the label’s website, Enchanting described her music style as “trap-n-blues.” She had previously spoken about evolving her sound, noting that she initially “sounded like a little baby” in the early days of her career.
“I had to get comfortable with my voice,” she shared. “Staying in the studio and constantly recording helped me find the style I can be good at.” She added that her music aimed to resonate with listeners, offering solace and connection through her lyrics.
Enchanting signed with Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records in 2020 and appeared on three compilation albums before leaving the label last year. She began her music career at 18, shortly after graduating from high school.
During her rise to fame, Enchanting released the hit song “He Can’t Reach,” which was featured on the HBO series Rap Sh!t’s season 2 soundtrack. Her final studio album, “Luv Scarred/No Luv,” was released in February 2023.
