Barcelona goalkeeper ‘Wojciech Szczesny’ was filmed smoking a vape inside the dressing room following the team’s 4-0 triumph over Real Madrid in El Clasico on Saturday night.

The jubilant players celebrated their victory at Santiago Bernabeu, which has now positioned Barcelona six points clear of their arch-rivals in La Liga.

Barcelona secured their commanding win with a second-half double from ‘Robert Lewandowski’ and goals from ‘Lamine Yamal’ and ‘Raphinha’. After the match, the celebrations were documented on Barcelona’s official social media accounts. However, the club had to delete one video in which Szczesny was seen exhaling smoke while standing next to Yamal.

Szczesny, who came out of retirement in September to join Barcelona, has a history of smoking in football. He was dropped by former manager Arsene Wenger’ and fined £20,000 for smoking in the showers after Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Southampton on New Year’s Day in 2015. Reflecting on that incident, Szczesny recalled that he lit a cigarette in a corner of the showers where he thought he wouldn’t be noticed, but someone reported him to Wenger. He admitted, “I was very professional about it” when confronted.

Throughout his career, the 34-year-old goalkeeper has continued to smoke but remains adamant that it does not affect his performance on the field. In a recent interview with ‘Mundo Deportivo’, Szczesny defended his smoking habit, stating, “There are things that I don’t change in my personal life, and it’s nobody’s business if I smoke.” He added, “I believe it doesn’t affect what I do on the pitch; I work twice as hard.”

Szczesny further explained that he refrains from smoking in front of children to avoid being a bad influence. He expressed his determination not to change his habits for anyone, asserting, “If somebody thinks that I will change the way I am in my personal life, they can think again because I am who I am. I’ve been this way my whole life.”
