The Israeli military has announced a major new wave of strikes inside Iran, claiming that its air force targeted some of the most sensitive sites in the Iranian government, including the Presidential Office and the Supreme National Security Council compound in central Tehran.
In a statement released on Telegram early Tuesday, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said its aircraft dropped “numerous munitions” on what it described as the Iranian regime’s leadership compound, striking multiple buildings believed to house top-level decision-making operations.
IDF Claims It Targeted Nerve Centres of Iranian Leadership
According to the IDF statement, the air operation focused on “strategic leadership sites” used by senior Iranian figures.
The military said the strikes included:
- The Presidential Office complex
- The Supreme National Security Council headquarters
- A military training institution
- “Additional key regime infrastructure” in the surrounding area
The IDF added that the complex was historically used by former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Khamenei was killed two days earlier in joint US-Israeli strikes, according to Washington and Jerusalem — an event that has pushed the region into one of its most dangerous escalations in decades.
No Immediate Response From Tehran
Iranian state media had not yet confirmed nor commented on the alleged strikes as of publication, and there was no immediate information on casualties or damage to government facilities.
Communications in parts of Tehran appeared disrupted overnight, according to local monitors cited by regional outlets.
Residents reported loud explosions echoing across the capital, with videos circulating online showing plumes of smoke near central government districts — although these have not been independently verified.
Strikes Follow Intensifying Regional Conflict
The latest strikes come amid a rapidly escalating confrontation between Iran, Israel and the United States following the killing of Khamenei and multiple rounds of retaliatory attacks.
Iran has already launched drone and missile strikes on US-aligned states in the Gulf, prompting several countries — including the United States — to urge citizens to leave the region.
The IDF’s claims suggest Israel is continuing its strategy of targeting the upper reaches of Iran’s political and military command structure, while Washington maintains pressure on Iran’s missile, nuclear and drone infrastructure.
A Developing and Volatile Situation
With both sides striking high-value targets deep in enemy territory, international observers warn that the conflict may widen further if diplomatic channels remain frozen.
