Four Nigerian Students Jailed for Knife Fight in Leicester
Four Nigerian students in Leicester, United Kingdom, were sentenced to prison for their role in a violent knife fight that took place on November 4, 2021.
The incident on New Park Street left one individual with multiple stab wounds.
Leicester City Police investigated and used CCTV footage, phone tracking, and public assistance to identify those involved.
Following a six-week trial, the court issued sentences ranging from two to seven years.
Destiny Ojo received the longest sentence of seven years for violent disorder, attempted grievous bodily harm, and grievous bodily harm with intent.
Habib Lawal was sentenced to five years for similar charges.
Ridwanulahi Raheem was given three years for violent disorder and possession of a bladed article, while Joshua Davies-Ero received two years for violent disorder.
Another individual, Justin Asamoah, admitted to possessing a bladed article and will be sentenced on November 22.
Leicester Police acknowledged the public’s support in the investigation.
Detective Constable Sean Downey commented on the case, highlighting the dangers of violent behaviour and the potential for more severe consequences.
He stated that the force remains committed to ensuring public safety and taking action against offenders.
The case and sentencing details were shared on the Leicester Police website last Thursday.
