Ellen DeGeneres’s UK Mansion Floods Just Weeks After Leaving the US Following Trump’s Election Win
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s dreams of a serene life in the English countryside have been disrupted after severe flooding engulfed their recently purchased multi-million-pound farmhouse in the Cotswolds.
The property, which spans 43 acres, was inundated after the River Thames broke its banks in the aftermath of Storm Bert earlier this week, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
The storm has left numerous roads submerged under five feet of water, rendering them impassable. Many locals remain trapped in their homes, with one neighbour near the couple’s property saying, “The flood waters are rising by the hour. This is the worst I have seen it in years.”
DeGeneres and de Rossi reportedly relocated to the UK following Donald Trump’s presidential election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. Sources claimed they were disillusioned by the political climate in the United States. Insiders told TMZ the couple decided to “get the hell out” of the U.S. and plan to put their Montecito, California, mansion on the market to start afresh abroad.
The duo, who had been married since 2008, had settled into their new life in the UK before the floods struck. They were recently spotted enjoying a night out at a local pub in Burford, with DeGeneres, now sporting brunette hair, captured on video shared to The Farmer’s Dog’s Instagram page.
The Cotswolds, known for its picturesque beauty and affluent residents, has long been a magnet for celebrities. DeGeneres and de Rossi’s new neighbours include David, Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, and Elizabeth Hurley.
The recent flooding has devastated the region, with its wealthy charm no match for the severe weather. As the waters continue to rise, residents are left grappling with the aftermath of what locals describe as one of the worst floods in years.
