Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Move to UK Following Trump’s Election Win
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have reportedly relocated to the UK following Donald Trump’s election win earlier this month, according to sources.
The couple, who married in 2008, are preparing to sell their Montecito, California mansion and start fresh overseas. The move marks a significant change in their lives, with insiders suggesting they may “never” return to the U.S. permanently.
DeGeneres, 66, and de Rossi, 51, were reportedly “disillusioned” by Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris, a candidate they both supported.
DeGeneres had publicly endorsed Harris on Instagram and donated to her campaign. After the election, the pair reportedly decided to leave the U.S. immediately, feeling the need to “get the hell out.”
The couple’s move comes after years of extensive property acquisitions. In 2019, they bought their Montecito mansion for $27 million, where they lived next door to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. They now live in the Cotswolds in South West England, a region known for its celebrity residents, including David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, and Jeremy Clarkson, as well as royalty like King Charles and Queen Camilla, who own Highgrove House.
Sources indicate the couple has already settled into their new life in the UK. They were recently spotted at Clarkson’s pub, The Farmer’s Dog, where they were seen enjoying drinks and live music.
DeGeneres is the second major celebrity to relocate after Trump’s victory. Actress Eva Longoria recently shared that she and her family left the U.S. for Mexico and Spain, citing changes in the country, including issues like homelessness, taxes, and Trump’s election win, as contributing factors.
Longoria, who had supported Harris’ campaign, expressed concerns about the future under Trump’s leadership, noting the “dystopian” feeling she experienced in the U.S. following the election.
