Filmon Andmichaen 31 was jailed for a minimum of 27 years on Wednesday
CCTV captured the harrowing moment Filmon Andmichaen, 31, led his pregnant girlfriend, Liwam Bereket, into a wooded area in Ladywood, Birmingham, where he brutally killed her. Ms Bereket, 26, was 27 weeks pregnant with a baby girl when she was fatally stabbed on August 1, 2023.

The footage shows Andmichaen parking his Toyota Yaris before the couple enters the woods. Fifteen minutes later, Andmichaen returns to the car alone and drives away. Two hours later, he called the police, admitting to stabbing Ms Bereket, claiming it was accidental.

Police found Ms Bereket with fatal neck wounds. Despite showing faint signs of life, she died at the scene, and her baby was stillborn following an emergency cesarean.

Andmichaen, who was married and had children with his wife, demanded that Ms Bereket terminate her pregnancy. When she refused, he “took matters into his own hands,” the court heard.

Following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court, Andmichaen was convicted of murder and sentenced to a minimum of 27 years in prison.
