A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a young boy was tragically found dead in a housing estate in South Ockendon, Essex, on December 15.
Police were called to the home after a concern for welfare report was made, but despite efforts, the child could not be saved and was pronounced dead shortly after officers arrived.
The woman, who was taken to the hospital, has since been arrested in connection with the death.
However, Essex Police have confirmed that no one else is being sought about the incident. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities or ages of the boy or the woman involved.
Detective Chief Inspector Alan Blakesley, leading the investigation, expressed his condolences, calling it a “tragic incident.”
He urged the public to refrain from speculating about the case while a thorough investigation is underway. “Specialist officers and staff are continuing to build a picture of the events which led up to the call to emergency services,” Blakesley stated, acknowledging the time it would take to gather all necessary information.
Police officers remain at the scene as inquiries continue, and authorities have asked anyone with relevant information to contact them on 101, quoting incident 645 of December 15.
