Two young women have admitted their involvement in the looting and burglary that occurred during a spate of violence in Hull city centre in August.

The disorder lasted for 12 hours and led to widespread destruction and chaos. Several businesses, including Lush and 02, were targeted.

Elizabeth Zvirgzdina, 18, from Westbrook Road, Gilberdyke, pleaded guilty to burglary at the Lush store in Jameson Street, Hull. After entering the premises unlawfully and stealing multiple products, the exact value of the stolen items remains unknown.

Zvirgzdina also admitted to burglary with intent to steal at the 02 store, which was similarly targeted during the riots on August 3.

Alongside Zvirgzdina, Lucy Houghton, 19, from Constable Street, Hull, also pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods. Both women were involved in stealing shoes from Shoezone, another store that had been looted during the unrest.

The court was told that the shoes, taken from the Shoezone store on Jameson Street, were left outside the shop following the break-in. Zvirgzdina and Houghton then picked up the stolen footwear and took them.

In a separate charge, Zvirgzdina also admitted to possessing cannabis on August 5, two days after the looting incidents.

The two women were part of a larger group involved in the violent spree, which left a trail of destruction across Hull city centre.
