Tributes have been pouring in for Ricardo Thomas, a Canadian chef whose body was recently recovered near the site of the Bayesian superyacht sinking off the coast of Sicily.

Thomas, a Canadian national holding an Antiguan passport, tragically lost his life when a tornado over the ocean, known as a waterspout, struck the luxury yacht owned by British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch early yesterday morning.

Locally, Thomas has been identified as Recaldo Thomas in Antiguan media and social media platforms.

Friends have expressed their grief and admiration for Thomas in heartfelt online posts. Jess Whiteley shared a touching message on Facebook: “Rest in Power, big man. You always loved this pic of you. I don’t know what else to say except I love you and always will. Too many memories to share at once… and too many were supposed to be made.”

Thomas is remembered fondly as a kind individual and a friend to many, with numerous tributes highlighting his positive impact on those around him.
