Tributes have been paid to Lucy Harrison, a 23-year-old woman from Warrington, who was tragically shot dead while visiting her father’s home in Prosper, Texas.
Lucy passed away on Friday, January 10, and an inquest into her fatal shooting was opened at Warrington Coroners Court on Wednesday, February 12. A written report from the proceedings stated:
“Ms Harrison was on holiday in the USA when she was fatally shot with a firearm.”
Following the hearing, Lucy’s grieving family described her as a vibrant and fearless young woman who lived life to the fullest.
“Lucy was life. She lived it fiercely and fearlessly, not being afraid to feel all that life has to offer. Lucy unashamedly loved – she had a huge capacity to love and be loved,” they said in a statement.
They described her as an adventurous spirit who loved travel and exploring new cultures but also found comfort in quiet nights at home. They added:
“She could be dramatic and elaborate situations like it was the end of the world, yet she could also be straight-talking and not afraid to have bold conversations. She was truly thriving in life, and although this gives us great comfort, we are utterly heartbroken at the loss of our beautiful, gorgeous Luce.”
The inquest has been adjourned until Friday, March 28, 2024, while investigations continue. Lucy’s family has requested privacy as they mourn their devastating loss.
A funeral service for Lucy will be held at St Elphin’s Parish Church at 12:30 PM on Monday, February 24.
Lucy is believed to be a former student at Manchester Metropolitan University.
