DUBLIN — April 12, 2025: Three people were injured Friday afternoon when a car veered off the road and crashed into the outdoor seating area of a café in central Dublin, authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. outside The Morning Brew, a popular coffee shop on Grafton Street. Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang followed by screams as the vehicle mounted the curb and struck several tables.
Emergency services arrived at the scene within minutes. Dublin Fire Brigade said two pedestrians, a woman in her 30s and a man in his 60s, were transported to St. James’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver, a man in his 40s, was also taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Gardaí said they are investigating the cause of the crash, but early indications suggest the driver may have suffered a medical episode.
“We are treating this as an isolated incident,” a Garda spokesperson said. “There is no indication of foul play at this time.”
The area was cordoned off for several hours as investigators examined the scene. The café has temporarily closed but is expected to reopen over the weekend.
