A UK teacher at Three Peaks Primary Academy in Tamworth, Staffordshire, Matthew Hoare, has been banned from the profession for life following the discovery of explicit content on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
The 34-year-old admitted to posting hundreds of images depicting sex acts, which were uncovered by a concerned parent in March 2023, although Hoare had left the school in June 2022.
The images included explicit depictions of his genitals and anus, raising significant concerns.
Hoare acknowledged that the posts, dating back to 2020, coincided with personal dissatisfaction.
He also commented on drug use, specifically poppers, which are legal but regulated in the UK.
The Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) found Hoare’s online conduct constituted “unacceptable professional conduct” and could damage the teaching profession’s reputation.
While the TRA noted that Hoare did not reference his job or school in his posts, the public nature of the content meant it was not considered solely private.
Hoare has been permanently barred from teaching in schools, sixth-form colleges, and youth accommodations in England.
