A tragic incident at Wichita Cook Airfield in Kansas has resulted in the death of 37-year-old Amanda Gallagher, who suffered critical injuries after walking backwards into a plane’s propeller while taking photos of fellow skydivers.
Gallagher was capturing images of skydivers boarding and disembarking from aircraft when she inadvertently stepped into the path of the propeller. Emergency services quickly arrived on the scene, and she was transported to a hospital. Unfortunately, Gallagher succumbed to her injuries on October 26.
In the wake of her passing, friends have initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist Gallagher’s family with funeral expenses during this difficult time. The campaign’s organizer, Abbey Charboneau, described Gallagher as “kind, adventurous, creative, and beautiful inside and out,” highlighting her roles as a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
Charboneau’s tribute emphasized Gallagher’s passion for skydiving and photography, stating, “As her family processes through this tragic accident, they could use your help covering the funeral expenses. Please consider helping them out and also keeping them all in your prayers.”
Friend Ashley Nicole Willard expressed her sorrow on Facebook, referring to Gallagher as a sister and advocating for a memorial ceremony in her honor.
Cook Airfield released a statement extending condolences to Gallagher’s family and friends, noting the tragedy of the accident. They urged the community to keep Gallagher’s loved ones in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this painful loss.
The incident remains under investigation, but authorities are currently treating it as an accident.
