Sixteen individuals have been charged following anti-immigration protests that disrupted traffic in Dublin city centre on Thursday.
Demonstrators obstructed O’Connell Bridge throughout the afternoon, leading to delays in Green Line Luas services between Dominick and Stephen’s Green.
A total of 22 people were arrested during the protests, with the Garda spokesperson noting that those arrested included 14 adult males and 8 adult females, ranging in age from their 20s to 60s.
The charges against the 16 individuals primarily include public order offences, as well as assault, criminal damage, and possession of a knife.
One male has already been charged and appeared in court, while three others are scheduled to appear before Dublin District Court this morning at 10:30 AM.
Thirteen arrested individuals have been charged and released, with court dates set for the coming weeks. The remaining individuals will be addressed under the Adult Caution scheme.
