Melania Trump has accused Barack and Michelle Obama of hindering Donald Trump’s first term by withholding critical information during their transition to power.
In an interview with Fox & Friends, the incoming First Lady reflected on the challenges faced during the 2017 inauguration and alleges that the previous administration made the process difficult.
She stated, “The first time was challenging. We didn’t have much information, which the previous administration withheld.“
Melania expressed confidence in a smoother transition as her husband prepares for his second presidential term.
She remarked, “But this time, I have everything… it’s a very different transition this time, second time around.” Highlighting her preparedness, Melania noted her familiarity with White House protocols and shared that she had already packed and selected furniture for the family’s return.
“I think it will be an exciting four years. We have much to do to put the country back in shape,” she added.
Reflecting on her personal experience, Melania spoke about her struggles as First Lady. She felt misunderstood and said she lacked support during Donald Trump’s first term. I think that people didn’t accept me.
Maybe they didn’t understand me the way they do now. And I didn’t have much support,” she said. Emphasizing her independence, she declared, “Maybe some people see me as just the wife of the President, but I’m standing on my own two feet, independent. I have my thoughts; I have my own ‘yes’ and ‘no.'”
Michelle Obama, a vocal critic of Donald Trump, has announced she will not attend his second inauguration, scheduled for January 20. Known for her slogan, “When they go low, we go high,” Michelle has previously criticized Trump’s wealth, treatment of women, and policies on minorities. Her decision to skip the inauguration follows her recent absence from Jimmy Carter’s funeral.
However, Barack Obama attended the funeral and was seen sharing a lighthearted moment with Donald Trump, garnering widespread attention.
Despite Michelle Obama’s absence, all other former presidents and first ladies, including George W. and Laura Bush, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and Joe and Jill Biden, are expected to attend the January 20 ceremony.
Melania Trump’s remarks highlight the ongoing division between the Trump and Obama families, even as the Trumps prepare for their return to the White House. With renewed confidence and a focus on the future, Melania signalled her determination to play an active role in the upcoming term, stating, “I think it will be an exciting four years.”
