Rapper Megan Thee Stallion is set to make her debut in the world of anime with a brand-new original series, Amazon Prime Video has announced.
The news was revealed during a panel at Dream Con, a convention dedicated to gaming, anime, film, music, and pop culture, where Megan made a surprise appearance dressed as Yoruichi Shihōin, a fan-favourite character from the popular anime Bleach.

Although details surrounding the series – including its title, storyline, and cast – remain under wraps, the Houston-born star told fans, “You ain’t never seen an anime like this ever in your life.”
The project is being developed in collaboration with Carl Jones, best known for his work as producer on The Boondocks, the cult Adult Swim series that aired between 2005 and 2014. While it’s not yet confirmed, speculation suggests the show may feature a fictionalised version of Megan’s life or music career.

A self-proclaimed anime enthusiast, Megan Thee Stallion has never hidden her love for the genre. She frequently incorporates anime themes into her music and fashion. In 2020, she teamed up with streaming platform Crunchyroll to launch an anime-inspired streetwear line, which included unisex T-shirts, hoodies and tote bags, and was tied to her animated “Savage” music video.

Her passion for anime has also been evident through her cosplay. She dressed as Trish Una from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure for Halloween in 2024, and has previously appeared as Sailor Moon and Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen at anime events.
Earlier this year, she attended the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, where she presented an award dressed in full cosplay as Gojo, further cementing her status as a prominent figure in the anime community.

The anime series announcement comes shortly after Megan’s fashion debut at PARAISO Miami Swim Week. She unveiled her 18-piece Hot Girl Summer swimwear collection, which features an array of bold bikinis and one-pieces. The line is currently available at Walmart and on her official website.
While a release date for the new anime series has not yet been set, fans can tide themselves over by streaming Megan’s latest single, “Whenever,” now available on major platforms.
Megan Thee Stallion’s anime project is expected to push boundaries and expand the intersection between music, fashion, and Japanese animation.
