Los Angeles — Megan Thee Stallion has been granted a restraining order against Tory Lanez, who is serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting her in 2020.
Court reporter Meghann Cuniff confirmed that the order, issued by a Los Angeles judge on Thursday, prohibits Lanez from January 9ing or approaching the rapper until January 9, 2030.
Megan, 29, appeared via video call to give an emotional testimony. “I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again, and maybe this time I won’t make it,” she told the court.
Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was found guilty in December 2022 on charges of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded gun, and possession of an unregistered firearm.
Despite his conviction, his lawyers maintain his innocence and have indicated plans to appeal.
In her complaint, Megan described Lanez as a “violent and dangerous criminal” and accused him of hiring bloggers to spread damaging rumours about her.
The rapper claimed Lanez continues to subject her to “repeated trauma and revictimisation” from behind bars.
Megan had previously secured a restraining order against Lanez in 2020 but expired in 2023. The latest order will last three years beyond Lanez’s earliest parole eligibility in September 2029.
The high-profile case has been marked by public controversy and media scrutiny. Although Megan initially denied a sexual relationship with Lanez, she acknowledged their intimate history in her October 2024 Amazon documentary, further intensifying public interest in the ongoing feud.
