Man’s Testicles Stung by Scorpion in Las Vegas 5-Star Hotel
A California man who was stung by a scorpion on his testicles while sleeping in a Las Vegas hotel room has opened up about his ordeal. Michael Farchi, who was staying at the Venetian Las Vegas with his family on December 26, 2024, said he woke up to a feeling of “somebody stabbing me in my private area.”
“I went to the restroom, and I saw a scorpion hanging on my underwear,” Farchi told KLAS, a local news station. He said he took photos of the bright orange creature as evidence and rushed to the hospital because he was in a “lot of pain.”
Farchi said he filed a complaint with the hotel, which comped his room and apologized for the incident. However, he is now considering legal action with his lawyer, Brian Virag, who said the hotel failed to protect its guests from such hazards.
“It’s one thing to have policies and procedures in place; it’s another thing to ensure they’re followed,” Virag said.
The Venetian Las Vegas said: “The resort has protocols for all incidents, and we can confirm they were followed in this incident.”
Scorpion stings are rare but painful, especially in sensitive areas. According to the Mayo Clinic, most scorpion stings are not life-threatening, but some people may experience severe symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, breathing problems, muscle twitching, or convulsions. The clinic advises anyone stung by a scorpion to seek medical attention immediately.
