A man arrested in connection with the crossbow murders of the wife and daughters of BBC commentator John Hunt has yet to be questioned by police.

The suspect, who suffered self-inflicted injuries and is now paralyzed with little chance of walking again, is accused of murdering Carol, Hannah, and Louise Hunt at their home in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on July 9.

After firing a bolt into his upper body, he was found unconscious in a cemetery near his home in Enfield the following day.

Although Hertfordshire Police have formally arrested him, the custody clock only starts once he is questioned.

The Major Crime Unit continues to investigate, but the police have declined to comment on the suspect’s medical condition.

The suspect is alleged to have taken the three women hostage at their home. Louise, believed to be his ex, reportedly managed to send a distress text to her current boyfriend, who then contacted the police.

John Hunt has previously honored his “magnificently inspirational” surviving daughter following the tragic attack that claimed the lives of the rest of his family.

In a statement, Mr. Hunt and his third daughter Amy expressed their profound grief: “The devastation that we are experiencing cannot be put into words. We would like to thank people for their kind messages and support in recent days, which have provided great comfort to us.”

He continued, “Despite the horrendous evil that has devastated our lives on an unimaginable scale, the breathtaking messages of support have been a counterbalance. Amy, my eldest daughter, has been magnificently inspirational in her support and control, which I am striving to emulate. Every message has been as comforting as a reassuring hug.”

“We know people are concerned for us, and we will get through this. Sending love to everyone,” John Hunt added.
