Gardaí in Tallaght have launched a murder investigation following a fatal stabbing in Drumcairn Estate early this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 4 a.m., where they discovered a 20-year-old man with stab wounds. He was transported to Tallaght University Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
A 35-year-old man has been arrested and is currently being held at a Dublin garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, allowing for up to 24 hours of questioning.
The crime scene has been preserved for forensic examination, and a post-mortem will be conducted by the state pathologist. An incident room has been set up, and both a senior investigating officer and a family liaison officer have been assigned to the case.
Gardaí are working to determine the motive behind the attack. A van found broken into at the scene is being investigated for any connection to the stabbing.
