Ireland Not Immune to Terrorism Threats, Taoiseach Warns
Ireland remains vulnerable to terrorism, Taoiseach Simon Harris has warned.
The Irish Prime Minister, Simon Harris, emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant against domestic and international terrorism. He mentioned that the Gardaí are closely monitoring these threats.
These remarks come amid a series of threats directed at elected officials by extremist groups. This follows a report indicating that the Garda Commissioner has raised the threat level from violent political extremists from moderate to substantial.
Harris, who has received personal threats against himself and his family, highlighted the seriousness with which state security services are approaching these issues. “Ireland is not immune from the threats we see in other countries,” Harris stated. “We should never assume that we are.”
He reassured the public of the Gardaí’s dedication to addressing these threats, emphasizing, “We’re not immune from the threat of terrorism—domestic or international. But I am confident that the Gardaí take these matters very seriously.”
