A human head washed up on a beach in Florida, sparking a major police investigation. The gruesome discovery was made by a beach worker raking the sands at Key Biscayne around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. After notifying authorities, 911 confirmed the head was human, and a section of the beach was cordoned off while police began their investigation.
Authorities are treating the incident as a homicide and have teamed up with the Medical Examiner to identify the victim. It remains unclear if the head is linked to any recent cases, such as the disappearance of a teenager who went missing while swimming in the area.
Residents expressed shock and fear over the discovery. “You see all kinds of things here, but nothing like this, like we saw this morning—the head of a person,” said Bahman Amini, a local resident. Another neighbourhood resident added, “We have our children here; our children play on these beaches, and it’s just beyond belief.”
A woman walking along the beach at the time was escorted away by a police officer, who signalled for her to turn around immediately. No other human remains have been found in the area. The investigation is ongoing.
