A British couple detained in Iran has been identified as Craig and Lindsay Foreman. They were travelling the world on a motorbike.

The couple was reportedly detained in January in Kerman, a city in southeastern Iran. They had entered the country from Armenia on December 30, intending to stay until January 4. After stopping in Tabriz, Tehran, and Isfahan, they never arrived at their planned hotel in Kerman.

Iranian state media confirmed on Wednesday that a man and woman were in custody on unspecified security charges. A blurred image of the couple meeting with the British ambassador was released, though details of their alleged offences remain unclear.
Before entering Iran, Dr. Lindsay Foreman, a life coach with a doctorate in psychology, acknowledged the potential risks of their journey on social media.

She described Iran as “one of the most challenging—and slightly scary—sections” of their trip but stated that the rewards of meeting local people and exploring the landscapes outweighed their fears. She also mentioned that they had ignored warnings from their family and the Foreign Office about travelling to the region.

In a family statement, relatives expressed concern and distress over their detention, emphasizing their commitment to securing their safe return. They confirmed they were actively working with the British government and relevant authorities to resolve the situation.
Dr. Foreman had been preparing for a research project she planned to present in Brisbane, the final stop of their world tour. Her research focused on human experiences and the meaning of a good life.

A Foreign Office spokesperson confirmed that the UK government was providing consular assistance to the detained Britons and was in contact with Iranian authorities.
