A murder investigation is underway following the fatal stabbing of a man in Dublin city centre during the early hours of Saturday morning.
The incident occurred shortly after 3 AM in the St Anne Street area, where a violent clash between two groups resulted in a man in his 30s sustaining serious injuries.

Emergency services responded swiftly, providing medical treatment at the scene before transporting him to St James’ Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

A second man, also in his 30s, was injured during the altercation, but his injuries were not life-threatening.
Authorities have since sealed off the area, and the Garda Technical Bureau is conducting a technical examination. The Office of the State Pathologist and the local Coroner have been notified.

Gardaà Confirm Murder Investigation
A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been appointed to oversee the case.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed:
“Gardaà responded to a serious public order incident on South Anne Street in early this morning. A man who was injured during the incident was taken by ambulance to St James’ Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The scene is currently being held for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. Investigations are ongoing.”
Appeal for Witnesses and Camera Footage
Gardaà have launched a public appeal for witnesses and individuals with camera footage of the incident.
In a statement, the spokesperson urged:
“Gardaà are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly anyone in the vicinity of South Anne Street / Duke Lane Upper, Dublin 2, between 2:45 AM and 3:30 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2025.”

Authorities are particularly interested in speaking with individuals who may have recorded mobile phone footage or dash-cam recordings from Dawson Street and St. Stephen’s Green around the time of the incident.
