Released on Thursday, the survey indicates that half of voters anticipate Biden forgetting his location during these crucial televised events, while more than a third fear he may even wander offstage.
Concerns about his verbal acuity are prevalent, with 70% of respondents expecting the 81-year-old president to stumble over his words.
Additionally, 40% expressed doubts about Biden’s physical stamina, suggesting he may struggle to stand during the debates.
In stark contrast, the poll reveals a high confidence level among Republicans in former President Donald Trump’s ability to perform well in the debates, with an overwhelming 90% predicting his victory. 
The survey also sheds light on public perception of President Biden, with most respondents describing him as “old.” This perception is underscored by recent incidents, such as an awkward moment at the G7 summit where Biden appeared to lose focus and wandered away during a skydiving demonstration.
The situation required intervention from Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to steer Biden back to the group of world leaders.
The upcoming debate in Atlanta marks a pivotal moment in the 2024 election campaign, as it will be the first confrontation between Biden and Trump.
