Málaga, Spain — A British woman in her 20s tragically died after falling approximately 500 feet from a popular rock-climbing area near the village of El Chorro in Málaga on Friday evening.
The victim had been rock climbing with a friend, who narrowly survived by clinging to a bush growing from the rock face.
Emergency services arrived at the scene around 7:10 p.m., but the woman was declared dead shortly after.
According to local newspaper SUR, the survivor was in severe shock and unable to recall his name.

The pair reportedly lost while descending from the Swiss Sector of the Arabic Staircase, a well-known limestone crag with thousands of climbing routes, before losing their balance and falling into a ravine.
Authorities confirmed the woman’s British nationality. The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office has been contacted for further comment.
