Zoë Kravitz Opens Up About the Pain of Moving Away from Mom Lisa Bonet After Parents’ Split
Zoë Kravitz recently reflected on the emotional toll of moving away from her mother, Lisa Bonet, following her parents’ separation in 1991.
After the couple’s breakup, the “Batman” actress, now 35, relocated from Miami to New York City to live with her father, rock star Lenny Kravitz.
In an interview with *Esquire*, Zoë shared how challenging it was to leave her mother, especially since her father was often away. “It was very hurtful that I moved away from her to be with my dad, and my dad wasn’t even there,” she said.
Zoë acknowledged her mother’s efforts to protect her innocence and creativity during that difficult time, expressing regret that she didn’t fully appreciate it then.
Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz, who met in 1985, married in 1987 and welcomed Zoë the following year. Although they divorced in 1993, the former couple has maintained a close relationship, with Lenny describing their connection as “essential.”
Zoë also discussed her father’s trusting nature, noting that she often had to be vigilant about people’s intentions due to his openness. “He’s trusting, and it’s sweet, but I can tell exactly what someone wants,” she said.
In her personal life, Zoë is now engaged to actor Channing Tatum, with news of their engagement breaking in October 2023, two years after they began dating. The actress was previously married to actor Karl Glusman, while Tatum shares a daughter with his ex-wife, Jenna Dewan.
