Young Girl Rescued from Sea in Dún Laoghaire, South Dublin
A multi-agency rescue operation took place this evening as emergency services worked to save a young girl from the sea at Dún Laoghaire, located in south Dublin.
The Coast Guard and Gardaí swiftly responded to the distress call around 8.20 pm near the east pier, where the incident took place.
Reports indicate that the child was swiftly retrieved from the water and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the ordeal.
The circumstances leading to the girl’s immersion in the water remain unclear, although rough sea conditions, marked by high waves, were noted in the area at the time.
Witnesses recounted courageous efforts by several members of the public who attempted to reach the girl in distress before assistance arrived. Eventually, they were safely taken aboard an RLNI lifeboat.
The collaborative efforts of Dún Laoghaire Coast Guard, the RNLI, and Rescue 116, alongside various other emergency responders, proved crucial in swiftly resolving the situation and ensuring the safety of the young girl.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident to ascertain the events leading up to the sea rescue operation and to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
