The world’s tallest woman, Rumeysa Gelgi, and the world’s smallest woman, Jyoti Amge, met for a unique and heartwarming tea session at London’s Savoy Hotel on Wednesday, celebrating their extraordinary Guinness World Records.
Gelgi, who stands at an impressive 7 feet tall, and Amge, who measures just 24 inches, came together for the meeting as part of a special event organized by Guinness World Records.
Despite the dramatic height difference, the two women bonded over shared life experiences related to their rare physical traits.
“It was so amazing meeting Jyoti for the first time,” Gelgi said in a statement from Guinness World Records. “It was difficult for us to make eye contact at times due to our height difference, but it was great.”
Both Gelgi and Amge, who come from different parts of the world, discovered common ground despite their contrasting sizes. “We do have things in common; we both love makeup, self-care, and doing our nails,” said Gelgi, who hails from Turkey.
Amge, a 30-year-old from India, also expressed her happiness about meeting Gelgi.
“I’m used to looking up and seeing people taller than me, but I was so happy to look up today and see the world’s tallest woman,” Amge said. “I’m delighted that I’ve met Rumeysa; she is so good-natured, and I felt very comfortable talking to her.”
Gelgi, a web designer, has Weaver syndrome, a condition that causes accelerated growth and skeletal deformities. Due to her condition, she requires the use of a walker to stand. Amge, who is an actress and has appeared in American Horror Story, does not have any genetic abnormalities that contribute to her size.
The meeting was organized by Guinness World Records to commemorate Guinness World Records Day 2024, bringing together these two remarkable women to celebrate their unique achievements and the power of connection across differences.
