A woman in Barcelona has been sentenced to seven years in prison after confessing to severing her lover’s penis by deceit during a sexual encounter.
According to Sundayworld, The 38-year-old woman struck a last-minute deal at the outset of her trial at a Barcelona court, resulting in her incarceration.
The incident unfolded when the woman persuaded her partner, also her employer at a Sant Andreu de la Barca bar near Barcelona, to blindfold himself with a napkin under the pretext of engaging in oral sex. Subsequently, she extracted a concealed knife from her pocket and carried out the mutilation, resulting in the complete amputation of his genitalia.
The victim, identified as Abdul from Bangladesh, is awaiting a prosthesis after a traumatic amputation.
Prosecutors suspect jealousy may have been a motive behind the attack, as Abdul had plans to return to his homeland.
Before the plea bargain, prosecutors sought a 10-year prison term for the woman for aggravated assault. Alongside her prison sentence, the woman, Tanya, has been ordered to pay €250,000 in compensation to her former boss and partner.
Initially asserting her innocence at the trial’s onset, the woman subsequently changed her plea to guilty after consulting with her attorney. The incident occurred on May 31, 2021, prompting a swift police response and unsuccessful emergency surgery to reattach the severed organ.
The woman’s initial claim of self-defence was refuted, with CCTV footage crucial in revealing the incident’s true nature. She had previously spent two years in jail as a remand prisoner before being released on bail.
Court also heard about a similar incident in Brazil where a woman admitted to severing her husband’s penis during intercourse and discarding it in a fit of jealousy. The Brazilian woman’s actions stemmed from revenge, even photographing the dismembered organ before disposal.
These cases underscore the gravity of domestic conflicts and the necessity for legal consequences for such extreme acts of violence.
Both victims faced life-altering injuries with enduring medical and psychological ramifications. The legal systems in both countries have appropriately addressed these cases, emphasising the significance of justice in such matters.
Barcelona case is a stark reminder of relationship complexities and the potential repercussions of uncontrolled emotions.
