A woman has died in an explosion after a bomb she was carrying detonated in her hands, police in Greece have confirmed.
The 38-year-old woman was reportedly taking the device to plant it outside a bank in Thessaloniki early this morning.
The blast caused damage to nearby storefronts and several parked vehicles.
Police said the woman was already known to authorities due to her involvement in previous robberies.

Investigators are now looking into her possible connections with extreme leftist groups.
“It appears that she was carrying an explosive device and planned to plant it at a bank’s ATM,” a senior police official told Reuters.
Crime scene investigators in white suits were seen examining the blast area.
Images from the scene show a damaged shop wall and shattered windows on a nearby car.
