The White House is attributing President Biden’s declining poll numbers in key swing states to factors such as the pandemic and Russia’s conflict with Ukraine.
White House press secretary Karen Jean-Pierre cited these reasons during a recent press briefing when questioned about Biden’s low numbers by Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy.
A recent poll by The New York Times/Siena College/Philadelphia Inquirer showed former President Trump leading Biden in Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona, with slight leads in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten described the poll results as “an absolute disaster.” If Trump were to win these states in 2024 and retain others he won in 2020, he would regain the presidency.
Doocy asked Jean-Pierre why Americans seem disenchanted with President Biden, pointing out that Biden is trailing in five of six swing states to someone facing criminal charges.
Jean-Pierre attributed Biden’s challenges to global issues like the pandemic and the repercussions of Putin’s actions leading to higher gas prices.
She also listed Biden’s accomplishments, such as passing the American Rescue Plan and creating millions of jobs.
When asked why the administration’s efforts to address concerns were ineffective, Jean-Pierre highlighted popular policies like student loan relief and efforts to combat pharmaceutical companies.
She acknowledged that some Americans may not yet feel the benefits of Biden’s economic policies but emphasised the administration’s commitment to addressing these concerns.
Amid concerns about the effectiveness of the administration’s initiatives, Jean-Pierre reiterated their dedication to understanding and addressing the needs of the American people.
She emphasised the importance of popular policies such as student loan relief and efforts to rein in pharmaceutical companies, indicating the administration’s responsiveness to public sentiment.
However, she acknowledged that despite… these efforts, some Americans may not yet feel the tangible benefits of Biden’s economic policies.
Nevertheless, Jean-Pierre underscored the administration’s unwavering commitment to implementing measures aimed at alleviating economic hardships and improving the overall well-being of the American populace.
