A married couple in Longview, Washington, tragically killed each other in a violent altercation on Halloween night, while their 11-year-old son was nearby, playing video games.
The boy, wearing earbuds, was unaware of the violent events unfolding between his parents in another room. He discovered their bodies after the fight ended and called 911.
The victims were identified as 38-year-old Juan Antonio Alvarado Saenz and 39-year-old Cecilia Robles Ochoa.
According to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office, Alvarado Saenz succumbed to multiple stab wounds to the chest, while Robles Ochoa was both stabbed and shot. Despite efforts by EMTs, the couple could not be revived.
Authorities have yet to determine who was the primary aggressor in the deadly confrontation. Investigators discovered that the couple had been experiencing relationship problems and were planning to separate. The incident involved one knife and a stolen firearm, which was confirmed to have been taken from Alvarado Saenz’s workplace. The weapon had not been reported missing until after the event.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
