Edinburgh Airport faced a flurry of emergency activity this morning following an emergency landing by a Virgin Atlantic flight.

The aircraft, which departed from Orlando, Florida, reportedly experienced a burst front nose gear, necessitating assistance upon landing.

Concerns arose about the possibility of a runway crash due to low pressure in the front landing tyre, with over 3,000 spectators monitoring the landing on FlightRadar24.

Fortunately, the plane safely touched down, and emergency services promptly responded to the scene.

In response to the incident, a Virgin Atlantic spokesperson stated that engineers were requested to meet flight VS226 upon landing in Edinburgh due to low nose gear tyre pressure, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to prioritizing passenger and crew safety.

The aircraft involved was an Airbus A350-1000, and all passengers and crew disembarked without incident.

Notably, direct flights between Edinburgh and Orlando only recently resumed, with two weekly services currently operating.

The emergency landing disrupted other departures from Edinburgh Airport, resulting in delays, while incoming flights were placed in a holding pattern until the runway was cleared.

Edinburgh Airport’s response protocols were activated promptly upon being notified of the issue, with emergency response vehicles meeting the aircraft upon landing. Operations at the airport have since returned to normal.
