Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark is the first Danish contestant to win the Miss Universe title.
Theilvig, an advocate for animal protection and a professional in the diamond industry triumphed over Miss Nigeria in the final moments of the 73rd edition of the competition, held in Mexico City.
Miss Mexico secured the third spot in the prestigious event.
The pageant took place in the Mexico City Arena, a venue with a 20,000-person capacity, where supporters cheered and waved flags from nations across the globe—the evening opened with a vibrant performance by 131 mariachi musicians and singer Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas, featuring the song “Mexicana,” created for the contest by Emilio Estefan.
Hosting duties were shared by Mario López, Olivia Culpo (Miss Universe 2012), presenter Zuri Hall, and Catriona Gray (Miss Universe 2018).
This year’s competition also saw first-time participation from several countries, including Belarus, Eritrea, Guinea, Macau, Maldives, Moldova, and Uzbekistan.
This marks the third time Mexico has hosted the Miss Universe pageant, adding to its long history of celebrating beauty, talent, and cultural diversity.
