The United States has declared its readiness to react if Iran retaliates following Israel’s recent airstrikes, which targeted Iranian military sites.
According to a U.S. source speaking to KANN News, “If Iran reacts – the United States will be ready, and there will be consequences,” though officials underscored a preference for de-escalation.
The strikes, launched early Saturday by Israel, were in response to an Iranian assault on Israel on October 1.
The Israeli strikes reportedly killed two Iranian soldiers and hit strategic military installations, including sites for manufacturing drones, ballistic missiles, and air defence systems.
A U.S. official confirmed Israel notified Washington ahead of the operation but clarified that the United States was not directly involved.

The senior official noted that Israel’s response was focused on military targets rather than populated areas, unlike Iran’s attack, which targeted Israel’s most populated city.
The Biden administration reaffirmed its readiness to support Israel if Iran retaliates but emphasized its commitment to diplomacy in hopes of reducing tensions. A senior U.S. official commented, “We urge Iran to cease its attacks on Israel so that this cycle of fighting can end without further escalation.”
