Ukraine reports a significant blow to Russian naval forces as they claim to have sunk another warship, the £55,000,000 Black Sea missile ship Ivanovets, in a daring kamikaze drone attack.
Dramatic footage captures the intense moment of the assault near annexed Crimea, leaving the fate of the crew shrouded in uncertainty.
The Telegram channel Military Informant detailed the aftermath of the incident. According to the report, the ship Ivanovets suffered irreparable damage, causing it to tilt and eventually sink in the sea lake of Donuzlav. The bay is strategically important and often frequented by military vessels in the western part of Crimea.

The attack believed to be orchestrated by Group 13 special forces of the Ukrainian GUR military intelligence agency, allegedly deployed multiple drones from the sea near Odesa in a meticulously planned operation.
If confirmed, the sinking of the Ivanovets marks the latest blow to Putin’s naval fleet, following the sinking of the Moskva cruiser, a Black Sea Fleet flagship, by Neptune missiles in April 2022. Despite this, Vladimir Putin has yet to provide an accurate account of the casualties resulting from the Moskva’s sinking.
Notably, several other Russian landing ships, including the Novocherkassk, have met a similar fate, with the most recent incident occurring on December 26, 2023.
