YouTuber Linked to Anti-Migrant Rallies
A far-right YouTuber who built an online following by claiming he was safeguarding “women and children” has been unmasked as a convicted paedophile, according to reports.
Livestreaming Anti-Migrant Demonstrations
Anthony Styles, from Hemel Hempstead, gained thousands of subscribers through his channel AJ Audits, which regularly livestreamed rallies outside asylum seeker hotels and at far-right gatherings across the UK.
Targeting Asylum Seekers
His videos often featured demonstrations alongside men who alleged asylum seekers were sex offenders preying on children. The channel has since been deleted or deactivated.
Protests in Essex
In recent months, Styles filmed rallies that followed the arrest of an Ethiopian asylum seeker later convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Epping, Essex. The protests saw weeks of disruption in the town.
Children Brought to Demonstrations
A number of parents reportedly brought children to the rallies, where organisers promoted their events as campaigns to protect minors from danger.
Past Convictions Revealed
It has now emerged that Styles himself was jailed for four-and-a-half years in 2017 for the indecent assault of a girl under 14, an offence dating back to 1993, The Times reported.
Details of Abuse
During that trial, jurors heard how he abused the child after she sat on his knee inside a Blackpool flat.
Earlier Offences in 2012
In 2012, Styles was also convicted of assaulting a 17-year-old girl and found in possession of 307 indecent images of children.
Sentencing at the Time
He received a three-year community service order as punishment for those offences.
Lifetime Restrictions
Following his later conviction, Styles was placed on the sex offenders register for life and given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Limits on Contact and Devices
Although the exact restrictions of the order are unclear, such conditions typically ban offenders from contacting minors and impose strict limits on internet and device usage.
Role in Rally Groups
Investigators found that Styles had been active in several social media groups used to organise rallies, including one called For The Children.
Expelled From Groups
After news of his convictions circulated, he was reportedly removed from some of these networks.
Concealing His Identity
Styles worked to hide his true identity online, never disclosing his real name to followers or fellow activists.
Identity Accidentally Exposed
Activists from Stand Up to Racism eventually spotted his real name printed on a fake AJ Audits press pass he wore at a protest. This discovery allowed campaigners to uncover his criminal record.
Reaction From Anti-Racism Activists
Lewis Nielsen, of Stand Up to Racism, told The Times: “These revelations show the far right have never cared about women’s rights. They’ve been harbouring convicted offenders in their midst.”
Accusations of Hypocrisy
He added: “The hypocrisy is off the charts. This man has claimed to be protecting women and girls while hiding his own convictions.”
