UK Airline to Launch more Flight routes to Three Islands this Summer
British Airways, the UK’s flag carrier, has announced that it will be launching new flight routes to three island destinations this summer: Formentera, Corsica and Aruba.
The airline said that the new routes are part of its expansion plans to offer more choice and flexibility to its customers.
Formentera, the smallest and most tranquil of the Balearic Islands, will be served by flights from London Heathrow starting May 16. The island is known for its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters and laid-back vibe.
Corsica, the French island in the Mediterranean Sea, will be accessible by flights from London Gatwick starting June 12. The island boasts a diverse landscape of mountains, forests, cliffs and coves and a rich cultural heritage.
Aruba, the Caribbean island off the coast of Venezuela, will be connected by flights from London Gatwick starting from July 3. The island offers year-round sunshine, white-sand beaches, turquoise waters and various activities and attractions.
Ali Gayward, British Airways’ UK country manager, said: “We are delighted to launch these new routes to three stunning island destinations for summer 2024.
Our customers are eager to travel again, and we are committed to providing them with more choice, flexibility and value. These new routes will allow them to enjoy some of the world’s most beautiful and relaxing places.”
British Airways said the new routes will be operated by a mix of Airbus A320 and Boeing 777 aircraft, with fares starting from £99 one-way. The airline also said it will offer package holidays to the new destinations via British Airways Holidays, starting from £299 per person. Customers can book flights and holidays on the airline’s website or app.
The new routes are expected to boost the tourism industry and the local economies of the three islands, which have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions. The islands have been working hard to ensure the safety and well-being of their visitors by implementing strict health protocols and vaccination campaigns.
The three islands are also known for their environmental sustainability and conservation efforts, which align with British Airways’ commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and achieving net zero emissions by 2050. The airline has invested in fuel-efficient aircraft, carbon offsetting schemes, and sustainable aviation fuels.
The new routes are part of British Airways’ broader network expansion, which includes new destinations such as San Diego, Tel Aviv, and Lahore. The airline said it will continue to monitor the global travel situation and adjust its schedule to meet its customers’ changing demands and preferences.
