U.S. Actor Detained in Florida for Extradition to Ireland on Rape Charges

U.S. authorities have detained actor Kevin Yungman in Florida, pending extradition to Ireland, where he faces charges of raping a woman in a Dublin Airbnb six years ago.

The alleged incident occurred on June 4, 2018, when Yungman, 31, allegedly raped a Brazilian au pair living in Ireland.

The victim and Yungman reportedly met in Paris in April 2018 and stayed in touch before planning to meet in Dublin, where the alleged assault took place.

After the victim reported the rape to Irish police (gardai), she provided them with a WhatsApp message from Yungman that said, “Nothing like this will ever happen again,” according to Local 10, a Florida news outlet that reviewed court documents.

Yungman, originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals on Monday after Irish authorities issued an arrest warrant.

He had moved to the U.S. as a child and pursued a career in acting and singing, with minor roles in film and television, according to his IMDb profile.

Court documents allege that Yungman raped the then-19-year-old woman twice on June 4, 2018.

The victim reported the incident to gardai two days later, and Yungman was arrested at Dublin Airport as he attempted to board a flight.

During his interviews with Gardai, Yungman claimed the sexual encounter was consensual despite the incriminating WhatsApp message.

He was released from custody while a file was prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who later directed that he be charged with rape. If convicted, Yungman faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

On his IMDb page, Yungman describes himself as a “natural problem solver, networking rockstar, relentless optimist, and lean, mean transformation machine.”

He also claimed to have won multiple singing contests and led a national tour of a Broadway company.
