Two believed to be British men were discovered shot dead in a burned-out car in Malmö, Sweden.
The Foreign Office is supporting the families of the men who had been reported missing before the discovery.
Firefighters found the bodies inside a rented Toyota RAV4 in an industrial estate on Sunday. The vehicle was last seen passing the Öresund Bridge toll station earlier that afternoon.
Swedish police are investigating potential links to gang violence, suspecting that the men were shot before the car was set on fire. While the identities of the victims have not been released, the area remains cordoned off and is being treated as a crime scene.
Rickard Lundqvist, a press spokesperson for the police in the South region, stated that no suspects have been identified, although several people are currently being questioned.
Kerstin Gossé of the Swedish Police Authority urged anyone who saw the black Danish-registered Toyota RAV4 to provide information. The bodies are undergoing forensic examination, and the incident is being investigated as a murder.
Police have appealed for witnesses who saw the car between 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday to provide relevant information. Authorities are keeping an open mind about the motive behind the attack as the investigation continues.
