A search and rescue operation is underway on the Greek island of Symi for TV presenter Dr Michael Mosley, 67, who has gone missing.
Concerns have been raised for the TV doctor and documentary presenter, who set off for a coastal walk on Wednesday while on holiday on the tiny island but did not return, with his whereabouts remaining unknown after his tracks were lost.
His wife, Dr. Clare Bailey, raised the alarm when he didn’t return from St. Nikolas Beach at 7:30 pm.
A representative for Dr. Michael Mosley told Metro.co.uk: ‘We have no further information yet and are sitting tight hoping for some good news.’
The mayor of the island has spoken out, stating that some people saw him return from the beach before his tracks were lost.
An appeal for information was shared on a Symi community Facebook group when he ‘failed to make it home’, with friends deeply ‘concerned’ as hours passed since he was last seen.
Police on the Greek island have expressed concerns as he was out for a walk without his phone, making it near impossible to track him.
In a statement, a local police spokesperson said there has been ‘no trace of him’.
Senior Police Spokesman Constantina Dimoglidou added: ‘None whatsoever, and that means that for us at least, every potential scenario is open and being investigated.’
The Mayor of Symi Eleftherios Papakalodoukas also reportedly said: ‘He came back from the beach, some people saw him, but then his tracks were lost.’
A familiar face on British TV, fans have shared their well-wishes for Mosley, hoping for his safe return.
Mosley is best known as a host of various TV shows, including Channel 4’s Michael Mosley: Who Made Britain Fat?, and he was part of the BBC series Trust Me, I’m A Doctor.
He also lived with tapeworms in his guts for six weeks for the documentary Infested! Living With Parasites on BBC Four, and he is also a columnist for the Daily Mail.
Drones are being used by police in the search for missing TV doctor Michael Mosley.
I’ve just begun filming a new series for BBC Two based on my popular podcast series Just One Thing. It is surprisingly challenging going from a radio format into a TV one, but so far it’s looking good…
