Ultimatum issued on Truth Social.
Donald Trump has given Hamas a Sunday deadline to sign his Gaza peace plan — warning that “all hell” will break out if they refuse
In a post on Truth Social, the former president said:
“An agreement must be reached with Hamas by Sunday evening at SIX (6) P.M., Washington, D.C. time.
Every country has signed on! If this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas.”
Proposal announced with Netanyahu
The plan was unveiled earlier this week alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It includes a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and the establishment of a temporary governing body for Gaza.
Trump said Israel would have the go-ahead to “finish the job” in Gaza if Hamas fails to accept the deal.
“Board of Peace” to oversee Gaza
The proposal outlines the creation of a “Board of Peace,” chaired by Trump and former UK prime minister Tony Blair. The board would include international experts and Palestinian representatives but exclude Hamas members.
Trump has also positioned himself to lead redevelopment projects in Gaza if the plan is accepted.
Humanitarian aid tied to agreement
The plan promises a significant flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza, but only if Hamas signs the agreement.
Trump urged civilians to move to safer areas, warning of “potentially great future death” should Hamas reject the terms.
Regional backing for US plan
The proposal has been endorsed by a number of Muslim-majority states, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, the UAE, Türkiye and Pakistan. Mediators from the region are reportedly pressing Hamas to respond positively.
Background to the ultimatum
The deadline comes days before the second anniversary of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks, which killed about 1,200 people in southern Israel.
Since then, Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has killed tens of thousands of Hamas fighters, according to Trump, who claimed many more are now “militarily trapped.”
What happens next
Hamas has not formally responded, but is said to be reviewing the proposal with regional allies.
Neither Trump nor Netanyahu has provided details of how Israel would act if Hamas rejects the deal. Analysts say the lack of clarity leaves open the risk of further escalation.
