Former President Trump participated in a roundtable discussion at a church in Detroit on Saturday afternoon, aiming to engage with Black voters. Pastor Lorenzo Sewell of 180 Church expressed gratitude for Trump’s visit, contrasting it with past presidents.
Sewell noted, “President Obama never came to the ‘hood, so to speak, right? President Joe Biden, he went to the big NAACP dinner, but he never came to the ‘hood. So thank you,” drawing applause from the audience.
Later the same day, Trump also attended the “People’s Convention” hosted by Turning Point Action. Fox News Digital has reached out to the Biden campaign for a response to Sewell’s remarks.
Speaking on “Fox & Friends First” earlier, Sewell highlighted Trump’s efforts with the Platinum Plan, which earmarked around $500 billion for Black businesses and churches. He emphasized the significance of measurable outcomes, stating, “Those metrics matter to us. So we will hold him accountable to the Platinum Plan he produced.”
In contrast, Biden recently visited Detroit, where he spoke at the NAACP’s 69th Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner last month. His speech reiterated themes of unity while criticizing Trump for fostering division.
Trump’s Detroit appearance coincided with Biden attending a high-profile fundraiser in Los Angeles the same evening, headlined by Hollywood celebrities George Clooney and Julia Roberts, alongside former President Obama.
