Former President Donald Trump criticized Vice President Kamala Harris and her newly announced running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, on Wednesday, alleging that their 2024 ticket could steer the United States towards communism.
“There’s never been a ticket like this,” Trump said during an appearance on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends,” referring to Harris and Walz. “This is a ticket that would want this country to go communist immediately, if not sooner.”
The Republican presidential candidate made his comments shortly after Elon Musk also targeted Harris on social media, labelling her as “quite literally a communist” in a post on X. Trump expressed his disapproval of the Democrats’ choice of Walz, a prominent progressive figure, and stated he was “thrilled” by the selection.
“He’s a very, very liberal man,” Trump remarked. “He’s a shocking pick, and I’m thrilled. I could not be more thrilled.”
Trump criticized Walz’s record, particularly his positions on issues such as border security, transgender rights, and responses to COVID-19 and the Black Lives Matter protests. “If you look at his record — with no walls, no security, let everybody in — he’s worse than they are,” Trump said, comparing Walz to Harris and referring to him as potentially more radical than Bernie Sanders.
Trump also criticized Walz’s stance on transgender issues and accused him of not aligning with mainstream American values. “He’s very heavy into transgender, anything transgender, he thinks is great, and he’s not where the country is on anything,” Trump added.
“This is a shocking pick, and I think it’s very insulting to Jewish people, and I think it’s very insulting to people who want security,” Trump continued. “I think it’s very insulting to anything about making America great again.”
