Former President Donald Trump has asserted that the recent missile attacks on Israel by Iran would not have occurred if he were still in office, nor would the world be on the verge of World War III. His comments came via the Truth Social app following Iran’s launch of approximately 180 missiles at Israel.
“Look at the missiles flying right now in the Middle East, look at what’s happening with Russia/Ukraine, look at inflation destroying the world,” Trump stated. He emphasised that “none of this happened while I was president.”
Trump claimed that Iran was “in total check” during his administration and noted, “There was no war in the Middle East, no war in Europe, harmony in Asia, no inflation, and no Afghanistan catastrophe.”

Iran’s state television reported that 80% of the missiles successfully hit their targets. In a message posted on its X account, the Iranian mission to the United Nations characterised the missile strikes as a “legal, rational, and legitimate response” to what it termed the terrorist actions of the “Zionist regime,” which included targeting Iranian nationals and infringing upon Iran’s national sovereignty.
The Iranian message warned that any further aggression from Israel would provoke a “subsequent and crushing response,” urging regional states and supporters of Israel to distance themselves from the Israeli government.
